4:15-5:00 -Beginner Ballet (2nd-3rd Grade) – they have had a year or 2 at the barre & are starting to develop more terminology & will start to work on the technique behind the skills. We do a classical style of ballet based off of the Cecchetti) method.
4:30-5:00 - Itty Bitty (2-4 yrs old - Non-Recital Class) – Our Itty Bitties work on social skills, listening skills while starting to develop terminology and steps for dance and tumbling. This group will not perform in the annual recital. Students do no need to be pottty-trained.
5:00-5:30 - Beginner Tap (2nd-3rd Grade) – continue the terminology development from combo class they begin to work on the timing & technique of how steps are done.
5:00 - 5:30 - Intermediate Tap (4th-5th Grade) – Designed for upper elementary students, dancers learn new steps and combinations that will prepare them for advanced tap classes.
5:30-6:15 - Beginner Jazz (2nd-3rd Grade) – continuing the skills & technique from combo class adding more into their lesson plan. They will beginning to expand the terminology while learning to move within the space.
5:30 - 6:15- Intermediate Jazz (4th-5th Grade) – Designed for upper elementary students, dancers will work more with turns, leaps, and jumps while working on their technique & terminology in jazz.
6:15 - 7:15 -Intermediate Ballet (4th - 5th Grade) – Designed for upper elementary students, dancers will focus on lessons in terminology, skills and technique while preparing for pointe shoes.
6:15-7:15 - Combo Class Ballet, Tap & Tumbling (PK - K) We combine these classes because they have similar steps and skills; we do some in each style of dance throughout our time together so they are learning to be well rounded dancers/tumblers. Note this combo class includes tumbling; Friday's Combo class is ballet, tap & jazz.
7:15-8:00 – Pre Professional Ballet 1*** (Invite Only) – Offered to the dedicated dancer who wishes to expand her/his technique. For those who qualify, Pre-professional classes are taken in addition to level classes.

7:15-5:45 - Boys Class (All ages) – This is an entry level class that gives boys a class of their own in preparation for other classes.
4:15-5:00 - Beginner Lyrical**(1st - 2nd grade) Lyrical is a style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance. It's often performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotion.

4:15-5:00 - Intermediate Hip Hop *(3rd - 6th grade) – Expanding their hip hop vocabulary by using high energy & hard hitting styles. They will also start to develop ways to freestyle.
5:00 - 5:45 -Intermediate Lyrical (3rd - 6th grade)** Lyrical is a style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance. It's often performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotion.

5:00-5:45 - Beginner Hip Hop * (1st-2nd grade) This high-energy,hard hitting class will teach students the basics of hip hop dance and discover ways to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to these movements.

5:45-6:30 - Minis Competition+ Competition is an audition based group and part of ASOD's Performing Troupe. These students are brand new to competition and trying it on for size. They will learn one routine for 1-2 competitions this year. Must be able to accept critical feedback and work together as a team.

5:45-6:30 - Beginner Tumbling 1st level of tumbling class at ASOD; students work on the basics of mat work in flexibility, balance, limberness and tumbling skills.
6:30-7:45 pm - Pre-Professional Ballet 2 (Invite Only)*** Highest level of classes for those who excel in or want a career in ballet.

6:30 - 7:15 - Advanced Tumbling (Test to be in) – must pass Beginning & Intermediate Tumbling requirements & begin to work on the next set of skills in flexibility, balance, limberness and tumbling.

8:30 - 9:30 - Gems Competition+ Competition is an audition based group and part of ASOD's Performing Troupe. They will prepare 2-3 dances for 3-4 competitions per year. Must be able to accept critical feedback and work together as a team.

8:15 - 9 pm - Top Notch Tumbling (Test to be in) – Our top tumbling level at ASOD. Students must have developed and sustained strong skills to continue with tumbling at the highest level.
4:15 - 5 pm - Pre Professional Jazz 2 (Invite Only)* This is an elevated class for those who excel in jazz or hope to pursue a career in dance.

5 - 5:45 pm - Modern** (5th-12th grade) Modern Dance is based on natural, expressive, and sequential movements. Modern Dance expresses individuality and encourages the students to express a broad range of emotions through various qualities of movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, and also in various methods of improvisation.
**Must also be enrolled in a jazz or ballet class
5:45 - 6:30- Tiny Tots (3-5 yrs old Recital Class) This class introduces basics of tumbling and dance. We will incorporate skills for ballet, tap, jazz and creative movement. Our Tiny Tots will perform in the annual recital.

8:15-9:45 - High School Ballet (8th-12th Grade) – pointe work can be done out in center for those who are ready & building strenth in their technique & skill level
8:15-9:00 - Jr. High Jazz (6th-7th Grade) – more advanced jazz class & will continue to work on more advanced turns, leaps, & jumps while working on their technique & terminology.
4:30-5:00 - Company (Invite Only) - This group is audition-based and they work on learning choreography and preparing for performances throughout the year. They will learn 2-3 dances based on time. One is for fall show and the 2nd is for recital and other performances. Company dancers must take ballet, tap and jazz.
5:00-6:15 - Combo Class Ballet Tap & Jazz (1st Grade) We combine these classes because they have similar steps and skills; we do some in each style of dance throughout our time together so they are learning to be well rounded dancers. Add 15 min to class time in 2nd semester for recital dance and preparation.
6:15-7:00 - Beginner Tumbling – 1st level of tumbling class at ASOD; students work on the basics of mat work in flexibility, balance, limberness and tumbling skills.

Professional Classroom Placement: Please consult with Miss Amy to help determine appropriate classroom placement.
Our level classes group students by age, and are the core of our dance curriculum. Level classes are offered in Tap, Jazz and Ballet. Though each are not required, these classes are highly recommended as the center of all dance technique taught at Amy's School of Dance.
Ballet is an artistic dance and often characterized as light, graceful and with fluid movement.
Jazz is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.
A dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.
Hip hop refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking and popping.
Lyrical is a style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance. It's often performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotion.
Modern is a contemporary, theatrical and expressive style of dancing.
Elite classes are offered in Tap, Jazz and Ballet, and students must be invited to participate. These classes are offered to dedicated dancer who wishes to expand her/his technique. For those who qualify, Elite classes are taken in addition to level classes.
Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment. Common moves in tumbling include flips, somersaults, tucks, handstands, cartwheels, aerials and more. Professional classroom placement required; please consult with Miss Amy to help determine appropriate classroom placement.
Amy's School of Dance competes in regional events in central Iowa. Competition students must audition each summer and are then placed in smallgroups based by age. In addition to group dances, we also have solo and duet entries competing, as well. *Dancers must compete with a team to be eligible to compete a solo or duet.
Theater is for ages 8 and up. The goal is to build skills not only in acting, but overall performance for both dancers and public speakers. Students do not have to be enrolled in a dance class to be in theater. Meets Mondays, 7 pm - 8:30 pm. Registration periods for theatre are August, January and June.
Theatre costs are separate from dance tuition.
